Ri Cruin is the name of a Bronze Age burial cairn at the very heart of Kilmartin Glen in Argyll in Scotland, as well as the name of a small sheep farm next to the cairn which provides self-catering holiday accommodation. It is also a state of mind; a sister world to the previous book of poetry called Flesh and Stone. In Ri Cruin, Graham Fulton creates a prosimetrum using poetry, prose and photographs to guide us along and inside the contours of this beguiling, bewildering, beloved landscape; a deep condition of endlessly changing repetition, sky, animals, trees, water, stars, sound, darkness and light. Precious tranquillity and contentment fused with the mad, random rush of modern mortality.
